SWCC is a consortia partner in a successful tender led by the Muslim Women’s Association:
The Canterbury Bankstown Multicultural Family Homelessness Support Service.
Funding for this project is through the Family and Community Services “Going Home Staying Home ” reforms.
This project involving the management of 33 properties in South Western Sydney.The brief includes the delivery of specialized and culturally sensitive services for women, children and men who are affected by Domestic Violence and other issues and require transitional accommodation and support/intervention to establish independent living, good health and well-being.
The Canterbury Bankstown Multicultural Family Homelessness Support Service aims to assist vulnerable families to avoid the risk of homelessness and assist people experiencing homelessness to break the cycle of homelessness.
Priority client groups for this Service are people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds including:
- women and children escaping domestic and family violence.
- men and / or women with children.
- refugees and those from new or emerging communities with children.
The program will work with our consortia partners to provide a comprehensive model of service delivery to a wide range of client groups across Canterbury Bankstown to ensure early intervention, rapid housing responses, crisis responses and intensive responses for clients with complex needs in relation to homelessness.
